The PADI Open Water Course

The Open Water Course is your first step into the underwater world. On completion of this course you will be certified as a PADI Open Water Diver. This certification is internationally recognised so you will be able to dive anywhere in the world. Of over 100 diver training organisations worldwide, PADI trains more than 60% of the world’s divers.

Course Structure
• Days 1 & 2 - classroom theory and pool training
• Days 3 & 4 - two ocean dives per day at the Julian Rocks MP
• MAX Training Depth 18m

Diving Medical
• A Medical is required by Australian Law for Open Water certification. We organise this for students at the end of the first day of training.
• Cost is $55. If you do not pass the medical all costs are refundable.
• Minimum age is 14 years. Exceptions for 12-14 year old available at the practitioners discretion.
• Medical conditions of concern include: Asthma, Diabetes, Epilepsy, Heart & Lung conditions, Pregnancy.

Passport Photos
• Two passport photos are required per student. These are available at Sundive for $5.

Fitness Requirements
• For certification you will need to demonstrate water proficiency skills.
• Includes a 200m swim and a 10min survival float
