Nonqualified funds
Generally, nonqualified funds offer additional retirement benefits to a select group of highly paid employees. Pre-income-tax deferrals are made into the plan for the benefit of these executives by either the employer or by the executives themselves. Federal and state income taxes, if applicable, are deferred until a distribution is made.
