Corneas can
restore the sight of a person who has eye disease or has suffered trauma to the eye. Bone and tendons are used for surgical reconstruction after an injury or during joint replacement surgery. Heart valve transplants may save the life of children born with heart defects or adults with diseased valves. Skin grafts are used in the treatment of severe burns.
The leaflet opposite is published by the British Association of Tissue Banking and is available from your transplant coordinator. |
