Materials Needed for a Home Cleaning Business

The First Item Needed for a Home Cleaning Business is Research
Even though a home cleaning business is one of the easiest types of home based businesses to start up, it still requires a considerable amount of research. What types of things need should you research? First, you should research your competition. How many home cleaning businesses are active in your area? You should call and try to get an idea of their rates, as well as their workforce, how long they stay at one home, and how far their radius of operations extends.
Next, you should research the numbers: how much money do you need to make per week or per month? With that figure in mind, how many homes will you have to clean to make your quota? Once you have these numbers on paper, you must determine if the labor you will be putting forth is still something you want to do. Third, if it appears that you will need to clean more homes than is physically possible for one person, you may need to research having employees to help.
The Second Item Needed for a Home Cleaning Business is a Collection of Chemicals
This is the most important thing for a beginning home cleaning business. You must know your cleansers. If you are going to mop and wax floors, you must be aware of which types of cleansers cannot be used with which types of flooring. For example, acrylic-impregnated white floors should never be cleaned with water or petroleum-based products. In addition, neither oil soap cleaners or waxes should ever be used to clean surface finishes, such as moisture-cured urethane or oil-modified polyurethane.
The best way to generate your list of chemicals is to first attempt to discover what your competition uses. Next, try finding out information on the internet to add to your list. Finally, purchase your cleaners. The best way to buy them is in bulk, at a wholesale club such as Sam's or Costco, and to purchase smaller plastic bottles that can be refilled as needed from the bulk ones.
The Third Item Needed for a Home Cleaning Business is a Set of Applicators
Once the chemicals are purchased, you can either read the labels or go onto the internet to determine what is the best type of applicator to use for each chemical in your home cleaning business. For example, you may decide to apply window cleaner with newspapers, which leave the glass free of streaks and smudges. Or you may decide to apply furniture polish with old rags.
Whatever chemicals you have purchased, it is generally necessary to buy mops, brooms, gloves, rags, buckets, and sponges, at the very least. It may be important to you to make sure all of your applicators are biodegradable, or that your cleaning cloths are made from recycled fibers.
Again, many of the applicators you will use in your home cleaning business are available in bulk at discount prices from wholesale clubs or from online sites that provide chemicals and applicators exclusively to the home cleaning business industry.
