Mission Statement
The Mission of the County Court Civil Division of Palm Beach County, is to provide responsive, effective and efficient governmental services to the Citizens of this County and other areas.
In accordance with Statutory and administrative requirements, we provide accurate and timely filing, retrieval and management of records for Small Claim Cases, Eviction Cases, Replevin and Civil Actions.
About the County Civil Division
The Clerk's Civil Division of the County Court has jurisdiction of claims, up to and including $15,000.00, and operates under two distinct rules of procedure:
- Small Claims
- Civil Rules
In addition, actions for removal of tenants are jurisdictionally exclusive to this division.
Other functions include receiving and maintaining Petitions for Delayed Birth Certificates and approving and filing Landlord Surety Bonds.
This area of Court receives and maintains more than 25,000 new case filings per year.
Filing a Complaint
When filing a complaint, please be specific in the amount of damages you are claiming. (i.e., damages are greater than $2,500.00, but less than $5,000.00 or damages are greater than $5,000.00, but less than 15,000.). This will assist the clerk in determining whether to file the claim as a Summary Procedure (small claim) in which a pre-trial court date will be issued or Civil procedure, in which a 20 day summons will be issued (no court date).
