The risks, however are great in home based business. As a owner, you need capital, you have to keep all book work and taxes on your business, including overhead. as well as on employees. Most home based business fail because of lack of capital, poor management, shoddy book keeping or a combination of all three. It takes from 1 to three years for a home based business to be successful. That is a long time to wait and if you are impatient, this isn't for you. It takes time and patience to build a home based business.
How to Choose a Home Business
Do your homework. Before you start your business, ask yourself "What is a need that I can fill that is not being filled by anyone else or being filled by someone with higher costs? " Do market research. Check to see if your home based business needs licensure, whether state or local. Do a price comparison. Call other people who have a similar business and ask how much they charge. Create a good business plan. Decide if you want employees.
Also choose a room that will serve as your office and keep that room as an office only. Have good sources of capital and at least 3 to 6 months living expenses put back so that you do not starve while starting your business.
