The Franchise Business Opportunity
Considering diving into the franchise business opportunity? Before you take the plunge, be sure you are making an informed decision.
What is a Franchise Business Opportunity
Franchising is when an owner of a trademark business makes that business opportunity available to a group or individual wanting to become apart of the venture. This business opportunity is essentially a legal and commercial relationship the individual or group enters into with the owner of the franchise.
Generally a franchise business sells a service or product provided by the franchiser. Sometimes, the franchiser does not provide the goods or service, but rather allows the business partner to supply a set quality to represent the franchise.
The franchiser also provides the business partner with valuable tools to successfuly market the venture. These tools may include management guidance, site location , training, marketing plans, and financing assistance. In a sense, the franchiser has taken on and completed a large amount of leg work that it takes to get a business off the ground. The franchise also probably has a proven achievement rate. Taking all of these factors into consideration, and add an aspiring entrepreneur and you may get a franchise business opportunity turned success story.
Making the Decision to Get Involved in a Franchise Business Opportunity
If you have decided that becoming a business owner is right for you, your next step is plunging into the venture. This is a lot harder than it sounds. Thousands of entrepreneur hopefuls make the life changing decision each year to accept the risk of being a business owner. This decision poses major benefits and potential downfalls. Buying into a franchise, however, can help alleviate the risk factor.
Whether you opt to start you own business or invest in a franchise, the first rule of thumb should be to take your time. Before you dedicate yourself to the cause, make sure you know being a business owner is right for you. Do you know why you want to be an entrepreneur? Are you ready to dedicate yourself to possible long hours of work and stress? Do you understand the risks involved and are you ready to take them?
If you decide you do want to start into a business opportunity, but the risk factor has you worried, buying into a franchise might be a good fit for you. You will still, of course, be faced with the hard work and sacrifice that comes with any business opportunity.
Reviewing Franchise Business Opportunity Options
There are two types of franchising. The first, and simplest form, is product/trade name franchising. In this format, the franchiser owns a trade name or product and the entrepreneur (or franchisee) purchases the right to sell that name or product.
The second, and more complicated form, is business format franchising. This type of franchise usually provides more than one service or product. There is also more involvement by the franchiser when determining site location, training, marketing plans and product supply.
