Make Any Business Opportunity Work for You
When you look for a business opportunity, you may wonder if there's a way to know if you will be successful at that business. While no formula is 100 percent guaranteed, all successful businesses have certain things in common. If you find a business opportunity that meets all of these criteria (or if you own idea does) then you have a good chance of being successful.
Your Business Opportunity Must Provide a Good Product
The number one thing that all successful businesses must have is a good product or service. Of course there can be (and usually are) many more than one product or service available from your company, but those products have to be of high enough quality that customers will want them and they have to be in demand. You could make the finest solar-powered clothes dryer in the world, but if no one wants to give up their electric machine, then you don't have a successful product.
Of course it's hard to know if an untested product will be in high demand; that's where the element of risk comes into any business opportunity. But if you get involved with a company that's been around for a while and has a proven track record of sales, you'll likely have a better chance at success than going with an unproven company whose products don't sell well.
The same rule goes for the "product" of selling services as well: you must provide quality and something that is in demand. Some services are always in demand: house cleaning, day care, financial planning, writing. You'd have a better chance in one of these areas than, say, becoming a personal chauffeur.
Your Business Opportunity Should Guide You on Selling
If you are going into a business opportunity with an established business such as an online business or some other opportunity that requires you to directly sell products, there should be some kind of mechanism for teaching you how to sell the product so that you will be able to make money more quickly. These companies only make money if you make money, so they should want you to do well and they should know what it takes to sell their products.
If you're looking at a business opportunity that involves selling someone else's product or service and it doesn't involve a training period, think about going with another plan unless you already have sales experience.
And if you're starting your own business and don't have any sales experience, consider buying a book or taking a class and learning all you can about the right way to sell your product (it wouldn't hurt to do research on your competitor's Web sites, either, to see how their pitches are framed).
For Your Business Opportunity to Work, You Must Sell to the Right People
It should almost go without saying that whatever business opportunity you choose, in order to be successful you have to sell things. Of course you do. But you need to sell to the right people; people who are enthusiastic about your products, will buy from you again and again, will tell their friends, give your products as gifts. You need loyal customers.
You build customer loyalty by having good products at good prices, great customer service, always being friendly and talking to the customers and by giving deals and bonuses to loyal customers. If you can find a great product, learn how to sell it and build customer loyalty, you have all the tools you need for a great business.
