Ecommerce Web Site Design Should Be a Very High Priority

Ecommerce web site's sales been slumping lately? Or maybe they never really took off in the first place? The problem may be with the design of your web site.

Web site design is what catches your customer's interest and pulls them in. If your site doesn't do that, then you are not getting a sale.

They key to getting more ecommerce business is to have a web site that is easy to read, pleasing to the eye, and simple to navigate. Not sure how to tell if your web site has all of those factors? Read on to put your site to the test.

Make Your Ecommerce Web Site Design Short and Sweet

The first step to take your ecommerce web site from blah to wow is to double check its content design. Some ecommerce web site owners think that more is better. Their home page takes weeks to scroll down to the bottom. This will turn off most potential buyers right away, before you get even close to a sale. Most people won't even try to read this mass of info. They don't have the time or the patience. People want short, simple bites of information.

How do you do this?

If you have several points to make use bullets. This will divide the information and make it seem more manageable than a huge block of text. Also, try to break up paragraphs by using pictures or illustrations.

Always wonder, "Is this paragraph really necessary? " If not, delete it.

Next, check the over all look of your site. Do all of the colors on your site go together? Are all the pictures of products in focus, looking crisp and clear?

Do things look cluttered? This could come from having too many things going on all at once. Make sure that on the home page you only have a few pictures to introduce the product or products and a simple welcome and an introduction to your company. If you are having a sale put a banner at the top of the home page, catching the prospective customer right away.

Easy Does It in Ecommerce Web Site Design

Another design point you should always think about for your web site is that everything is easy to find.

Make sure that you have a menu at the top of your site and that the keywords are easy to read. Double check to make sure all of your site's pages are listed in the menu as well.

If possible, only have one page introducing your site and explaining the company. The rest of your site should be for selling your product, such as pictures, product description, testimonials, check out and contact information.

Check all pages and make sure that you haven't repeated yourself. When you are excited about a product it is easy to be repetitious, but this looks unprofessional, and will turn the customers off before they buy your product.
