You
can be an Outdoors Woman!
Hunting and
fishing are the best stress-reducers ever invented. Far fewer people would need therapists
if more folks took up an "outdoors" lifestyle. It's
not only good for us, it's great for the children. Ladies, get your kids away from the
video games and into the great outdoors! The whole family will benefit.
If you're just starting out, by all means try the "Becoming an Outdoors
Woman" program. Take your state's hunter safety class. Try a bass
fishing class at the local community college. (Yes, they do exist!) Send
e-mail to an established woman hunter or fisherman; you'll be surprised at the help you'll
get. Be sure to join the Women
Hunters Club on Yahoo, for lots of great camaraderie, advice and support. In
addition, your local Fish & Game Department
will have valuable information to share.
Women are the fastest growing segment of the market for
many sporting goods retailers. Magazines are starting to take notice and include
articles written by and for female hunters and fishermen. I have been fishing for a
long time, but just started hunting in 1998, at the request of my 6 year old son. Many people,
male and female, have been gracious enough to assist me. This page is an attempt to make
it easier for other women who want to enjoy the outdoor life.
