Isle stone wall a unique art form
Good fences make good neighbors goes the saying, and maybe in the old days it was the case. Today, we have so many choices of fencing besides our Hawaiian stone walls that the wrong fence might create all kinds of neighbor problems. It is hard to beat lava stone walls. They always look great, but some kinds of fencing can be unsightly.

Not all pines are Northerners; some do well here
When many people think of conifers, like pine trees (cone bearing trees), they think of cold regions around the world. Fossils tell us that conifers dominated the earth's forests along with dinosaurs about 208 million years ago, during the Triassic Period. Scientists consider these plants to be very ancient and old indeed.
