NMMA COMPLIANCE SPECIALIST

NMMA Certified Boat and Yacht manufacturers are required by agreement to send at least one person from their organization each year to the NMMA Engineering Compliance Seminar. This seminar highlights all of the changes to the ABYC standards for the upcoming model year. These standards are the basis for the NMMA Certification program. NMMA believes that it is critical for its certified members to have a working knowledge of each of the applicable standards and the changes that are constantly occurring.

The three-day engineering compliance seminar focuses on the ABYC standards and the USCG Code of Federal Regulations. These standards and regulations are presented by leading industry professionals. Each standard has a corresponding exam that can be completed by the attendee to gain the Compliance Specialist designation. Upon successful completion of each of the exam modules, the specialist will be presented with a certificate outlining the achievement.

Manufacturers who send employees to this seminar should feel confident that their employees will bring back with them valuable knowledge that will be applicable to the new models and quality control of existing models.

Our seminar occurs in December for a couple of important reasons. One, it is usually a slower time of year for the manufacturers and affords the opportunity for a manufacturer to send an employee with the least amount of impact on daily operations. Two, the December date will allow manufacturers adequate time to incorporate all of the changes in the standards in their new model concepts, designs and prototypes for the upcoming model year.
