Application Essay Questions

Master of Arts in Teaching Applicants

Interviews are required for Master of Arts in Teaching applicants. When your application is complete, an admissions counselor will contact you to arrange a personal telephone interview. If you will concentrate your studies in a language which is not your first language, your interview and essay will be in the concentration language.

Essay Questions for the Master of Arts in Teaching Program

  • Please describe an intercultural interaction you have had and how it has been important and significant in your life. How can you use that experience to contribute to SIT's learning environment?
  • Why do you want to attend SIT? What are your personal, educational, and career goals, and how will the MAT degree help you to achieve those goals?
  • What personal qualities and experiences do you bring to the program that can be of benefit to other students? Please include your language teaching experience.

Essay Questions for the Programs in Intercultural Service, Leadership, and Management

  • Please describe an intercultural interaction you have had and how it has been important and significant in your life. How can you use that experience to contribute to SIT's learning environment?
  • What effect have intercultural experiences had on your education and career choices?
  • What is the relationship between your personal/career goals and the mission and goals of SIT? How can SIT help you to further define your goals?
