SIT Alumni at Work Worldwide

"Employers tell us that SIT graduates are able to hit the ground running because they have both the practical experience and the theoretical background. One reason for this is our focus on group-building skills. Given the importance of teamwork in both nonprofit and private sectors, our students are much better equipped than those from conventional programs."

Associate Professor, Intercultural Service, Leadership, and Management

Professional Development Resource Center: A Window On Opportunity, A Gateway To Alumni

The Professional Development Resource Center, SIT's career center, serves the career guidance, job searching, networking, and professional development needs of students and alumni. The staff, all certified professional résumé writers, provide cutting edge workshops on electronic résumé preparation, successful interviewing techniques, salary negotiation, Web based job search, and creating career focus, as well as one-on- one assistance for résumé writing, cover letter review, interview coaching, and career counseling. In addition, the center provides Myers-Briggs Personality Type testing and individual sessions to share the research that links personality type to career satisfaction.

The center posts thousands of job opportunities each year sent from organizations and institutions worldwide working in the fields for which SIT provides training. Job postings can be reviewed in the career center or accessed through Alumnet, SIT's listserv. It is also the home of the "Lobster Tank," a collection of profiles on 800 organizations and institutions worldwide. Students can use the tank in the PDRC office or access it online. Resources covering a broad range of career-related topics as well as information on grants and scholarships are also available.

Each year the Professional Development Resource Center brings to campus professional speakers and recruiters, so students can to learn more about career possibilities and build their professional network. Our recruitment visits offer students the chance to interview for internships and professional positions while still on campus. Center staff also assists students in networking with SIT alumni and World Learning staff to explore additional career and job options.
