Cabo San Lucas Fishing A fishing trip to an exotic destination such as Cabo San Lucas requires planning, preparation and research.  Luckily, getting the most of that investment and making sure the fishing adventure goes smoothly is often just a matter of asking the right people the right questions. At Cabo San Lucas Villas we have done all of the planning and research, and are prepared to address any of the questions that may arise prior or after your fishing trip. Providing good service during our fishing trips is critical. The ability to catch fish is one thing, but it is not something that can be controlled. What can be controlled is the quality of the fishing equipment and the conditions on the boat. We realize that most of our clients appreciate a well-rigged boat and the professionalism of our fishing crews.

"There is a common saying or hope- among anglers
that any time spent fishing is not deducted from one’s allotted
life span. If so, there are an extraordinary number of
opportunities all over the world to keep a sportsman
busy and to postpone the inevitable, perhaps forever..."

Cabo San Lucas Weekly Fishing Report

PISCES WEEKLY FISH REPORT
November 26th
TO December 2nd, 2004

BILLFISH: Marlin fishing picked up substantially this week and we were even surprised with a couple of late season blue marlin. Dick Landfield fishing aboard “Reel Deal” landed a 482 lb blue marlin, after it took a Marlin Magic lure, 12 miles off the Old Lighthouse. Tom Raponi, fishing with buddy Michael Santia, both from Danville, California fished this same area and produced a 550 lb blue and a striped marlin, which confirms what we’ve been saying, the season is ahead of itself by about a month – the first week of January always produces a 500 lb fish. These weren’t the only good catches, a group from Mexico City, consisting of Carlos Lopez, Juan Salles & Manuel Scapachini, along with Alberto Herrera from Madrid, Spain, did amazingly well on their two day trip aboard “Ni Modo” – first day out, November 28th, they caught seven striped marlin on live bait at San Jaime, next day out they did another seven stripers this time 18 miles off of Los Arcos as well as three dorado and a 300 lb tuna! It doesn’t get much better than that. We had many anglers that did very well – Anthony Nigro & Kathy Valdez released four stripers aboard “Andrea” and boated a dorado; the Piaseki and Mayo families fished together on “Ruthless” and were thrilled to release five striped marlin on November 27th and double and triple marlin days were had by numerous boat, too many to mention here. Saying this, there were quite a few “skunks”, but pretty much all boats that drew a blank, at least saw fish but couldn’t get them to bite. Our overall catch success rate was eighty-two percent with sixty-seven percent of charters catching marlin. Pisces anglers caught a total of ninety-three striped marlin, one blue marlin and two sailfish for a total of 96 billfish, all but three fish were released.

OTHER SPECIES: Quite slim pickings on smaller game this week, with just thirty-five percent of boats catching dorado and even fewer, just twelve percent, catching tuna. Dorado were found in one’ and two’s and occasionally in clusters of four and weights were nothing to get excited about at 15 to 35 lbs. Yellow fin tuna were found on a couple of days, but only a few boats were lucky to load up on them. Weights were again average at 15 to 38 lbs. The one exception was the 300 lb’er mentioned above. Inshore skipjacks were found and we are now starting to see some nice roosters up to 35 lbs and some yellowtail too.

WEATHER CONDITIONS: Partly cloudy daytime temps 76-81 F, seas were moderate to calm.

AVERAGE WATER TEMP: 77 F

BEST LURES: Live bait, green/yellow/ blue/purple.

FISHING NEWS & TOURNAMENTS

Mercury/WON Los Cabos Tuna Jackpot November 3-6, 2004

CABO SAN LUCAS - In case you haven't been paying attention, last year's Tuna Jackpot Tournament paid out $425,000 to five teams. This year, with a new $5,000 mega optional jackpot on the board, the money could be spread out among even more boats.
"What's truly amazing is how ways there are to win in this event," said Jackpot Director Kit McNear. "Because there are so many teams entered that are at different economic levels, you can have the eighth biggest fish over two days and still win $30,000 to $100,000. It's bigger and better than ever for prize money and prizes."
The Outdoor Channel will again be filming for the third year in a row for a television show to be aired in January. Pete Gray of Let's Talk Hookup will be at the Hotel Hacienda for a live broadcast on Saturday morning, plus there will be local media on site for the what is now the largest fishing tournament in Baja and the biggest tuna event in the world.
