Are Fee Questions Important for Credit Card Deals?

Fees related question are very important in credit card deals. We should ask a lot of questions, just to know about the deal, we are opting for, in and out. How does these questions help? They help us know the rules of our card and our liabilities better and they help us understand what out rights are and what our standing is in the case we think that the company who has given us the card is not very fair to us on some transaction.

And if it has indeed been unfair than what can we do about it and why should we do so. As it is important to know why a particular brand of bread we are choosing, so is the choice of a card important because if affects the decisions that we make for our family.

Fees of Our Credit Card Deal?

This question has many sub-questions. First, is there any processing fee for the credit card. There should not be any processing fee for the credit card, from a layman point of view, you are a customer from whom the company stands to make money in form of the interest, so you should not be giving them any money for being their customers. Second, there is any annual fee. No, there should not be any annual fees.

Because a good and fair credit card deal is the one which does not asks the customer to pay the annual fees on the card. Third, any miscellaneous fees such as late fees or over-the-limit borrowing fees? These kind of fees sound fair for the company but what you as a customer should look they are not overtly high and should not affect the overall payment of the interest. They should not go over-board. There should be a decent enough cap on these fees.

What If I Transfer My Balance to My New Credit Card?

First of all, we should ask is there any balance-tranfer fee? Ideally we should get the answer in negative. But even if it is in affirmation, the rate should not be in percent. There are deals where the transfer fee is 4.5% and there are caps such as $30. Obviously you should have an idea what kind of amount you are looking at to transfer and then you can automatically know if the $30 cap is better or the 4.5% one. Transfer fees are also important because you old lender can levy some fees if the new card is not able to complete the transaction within stipulate time of four months.

Grace Period in My New Credit Card Deal.

How many day's grace do I get in the new deal. Lesser the grace period means more the interest or a hidden fee. Generally all the cards give nearly same amount of grace period to the customer such that if he makes the payment before the grace period ends, he does not have to pay any interest. Still, it is better if your credit card deal ships with 5 days extra grace period. And beware, do not take the card if it does not give any grace period.
