What platforms are supported for FXPilot.

FXPilot's Conduit Manager best runs on Windows 95/98/2000. In general it should run on Windows NT, however, some users encounter difficulties. The Conduit Manager does not run on Macintosh or UNIX based systems as it is specifically written for the Microsoft Windows® operating systems. You would need HotSync® Manager 3.0 or better for FXPilot's conduit manager to work properly and approximately 40K of free memory on your Palm® Pilot Handheld.

How do I know I need to upgrade my Winsock 2?

If you are running Windows 98 or better, you do not need to upgrade the Winsock library, as Windows 98 (or higher) is shipped with Winsock 2. If you are running Windows 95, chances are you need to upgrade the Winsock library. To find out how, please go to Microsoft®'s upgrade site for Winsock 2.

Where can I get Winsock 2 for Windows 95?

You can find all information regarding Winsock 2 from Microsoft®'s own Web site.

I get the error message: "Error creating socket...aborting"?

If you are running Windows 95, you need to upgrade your Winsock library to version 2. This can be found at: Winsock 2 from Microsoft®'s own Web site.

Can I download the rates during the HotSync® if I am connected to the Internet through a firewall or a proxy server.

Some of our users encounter problems downloading the exchange rates during the HotSync® operation if they are connected to the Internet from a firewall or a proxy server. The current version of FXPilot™, does not support connections through a firewall or a proxy server.

I have problems downloading the installation package.

To download this package, right click on the link below and choose "Save Target As..." in Microsoft Internet Explorer or "Save Link As" in Netscape. If you still have probelems downloading the package, try to download the files separately from FXPilot download page.

My installation package is missing some files.

You can download the missing files (or each file separately) from the FXPilot download page. Please note that you need to be an OANDA registered user to access these files.

How can I find out if my FXPilot is installed properly.

  • In Windows® system tray, right click on the "HotSync® Manager" icon.
  • Choose "Custom..."
  • A window will open up with all the Conduits installed for your Palm Pilot updates.
  • Look for FXPilot's Conduit manager

If you find this entry, FXPilot Conduit manager is installed on your system. Next time you perform a HotSync® operation, the OANDA Connection Manager will start automatically and the latest exchange rates are downloaded to your Palm® Pilot Handheld.

If you can't find this entry, make sure you follow the instructions in the installation.txt file included in the FXPilot package.

How can I get technical support for FXPilot

FXPilot is distributed as a free software for personal use. At this time we do not offer technical support. Please review all our available documentation such as this FAQ and the installation document

How do I un-install FXPilot from my PC

To un-install the FXPilot application from your PC, delete the cc.dll file from your Palm/ folder. Exit from the HotSync® Manager (from your System Tray) and then restart it again. FXPilot Conduit should be removed from your Conduit Manager. Also remove the convert/ folder under your Palm/user/ folder to clean your system from this application.

When I double-click the conduitinstaller.exe, it asks for "CONDMGR.DLL"

Make sure you have copied conduitinstaller.exe and cc.dll libraries in your C:/Palm folder first, then double-click the conduitinstaller.exe.

Are there any plans on developing FXPilot™ for the Mac OS?

Unfortunately, we do not have any immediate plans for developing FXPilot™ for the Mac OS platform. However, we are working on a few products for release within the AvantGo channels which can run from the Mac OS environment. Be tuned to our site for announcements on these products.

How do I set my default currencies?

Start FXPilot, then click on the "Menu" icon of the Palm Pilot. Select "Options" from the menu bar, then click on "Properties". Choose the desired "From" and "To" currencies and click on "Save". From now on, the startup (default) currencies will be the ones you selected.

Can I set more than one currency pairs as the default currencies?

No, this option is currently not available.

Can I change the default rate from "Interbank" to "Cash" or "Credit Card"?

No, this option is currently not available.
