The UNC Certificate Program in Radiography prepares students
to practice competently and effectively as radiologic technologists
(radiographers) in medical center settings and community hospitals.
Incorporates the national curriculum
established by the ASRT - The American Society of Radiologic
Technologists
Includes
all didactic and clinical competencies required for eligibility
for the ARRT examination - The American Registry of Radiologic
Technologists
Topics included:
Ethics and Law: Medical Terminology; Patient Care; Human Structure
and Function;
Radiographic Procedures; Imaging and Processing; Imaging Equipment;
Image
Analysis; Production and Characteristics of Radiation; Radiation
Protection; Radiation

Observation Experience |
For
more information about the field of radiography (radiologic
technology) visit our sponsoring institutions. All applicants
must provide documentation, using the Clinical
Observation Record, of completion of a minimum of three
observation experiences including a variety of radiographic
procedures in radiography clinical settings.

Admissions
Selection Information
Minimum qualifications:
US citizen or legal permanent resident
high school graduate or equivalent
required standardized test scores assessing basic English,
math, and science skills (specific test details available
12/2004)
successful completion of high school biology, chemistry,
and algebra
SAT scores of at least 800 or college credit
for three courses with a grade of "B" or higher
required college level courses* with a grade of "B"
or higher: (a) Anatomy and Physiology, (b) English Composition,
and (c) one Physical Science OR Psychology
completion of a minimum of three observation experiences
including a variety of radiographic procedures in radiography
clinical settings
completion of oral and written interviews
*Applications may be submitted prior to completing all
prerequisite course requirements. Students
must have a minimum of 2 course requirements successfully
completed prior to admission. All students admitted
to the program must have all prerequisite courses completed
by September when the program begins.

The Division of Radiologic Science
uses three admissions review cycles to admit approximately
twenty (20) students to the Certificate Program in Radiography. Eligible
students who are not selected during the first admissions
review period will be reviewed automatically for admission
during subsequent admissions review periods.
