Travel Insurance Exclusions
The following conditions prevent you from availing of travel insurance benefits, in the event of cancellation/interruption of the trip.
· A pre-existing medical condition: Any injury or medical condition of the policyholder or his family member that became apparent (needing medical care or was diagnosed) during 180 days immediately preceding the day travel insurance was arranged. If such condition is controlled through medication and remains controlled throughout the 180-day period and no change in medication or further medical attention is required for 180 days, it is not categorized as a pre-existing condition.
Under certain conditions, when the travel insurance policy was purchased within 10 days of paying or partially paying for the trip and the insured person was medically stable at the time of taking the medical insurance, this exclusion can be relaxed.
· Business or contractual obligations: If your leave gets canceled, the dates altered or some work related issue requiring urgent attention prevents you from taking your proposed travel, the travel insurance will not be liable.
· Failure of carrier or tour operator: Should the carrier or tour operator or agency be unable or unwilling to provide the agreed upon services, the company that provided travel insurance will not be liable.
· Your financial circumstances: If you cannot afford to undertake the trip, it is not cancellation/interruption covered by the travel insurance.
· Unfavorable Weather: If unfavorable weather conditions at your destination prompt you to cancel/postpone your trip, such cancellation will not entitle you to claim from your travel insurance.
· War: Whether declared or not. If called to perform military service (some exceptions exist).
· Change of Plans: If you change your mind.
· Self-inflicted injury.
· Any Government regulation.
· Normal childbirth, pregnancy or elective abortion.
· Loss caused by official authority: e.g. confiscation, destruction or detention by customs.
· Any unlawful act: If travel plans are canceled/interrupted on account of an unlawful act committed by the policyholder or his companion, spouse or other dependant, there is no claim on the travel canceled policy.
· Any civil disorder or riot.
· A nuclear reaction.
· Any expected or foreseeable happening.
