What Other Car Insurance Options Do You Have?
We have already seen about nine options that you can avail for your car insurance package. These are not all. There are still a few more options left. The car insurance companies have come up with a large number of insurance coverage options to ensure that you, as a car owner, are adequately covered, in the case of any eventuality.
It is up to you to go through all these options carefully and then select those options that you feel would give you the perfect car insurance coverage. In this article, we will take a brief look at some of the other car insurance options that are available to you.
Rental Car Reimbursement - a Car Insurance Option If You Rent a Car?
The rental car reimbursement policy cover is designed to compensate you for any cost that you incurred while renting a car, if your own car was being serviced. However, for this policy to be effective your car should have been under repair for an event that your policy covers. What dos this mean?
It means that if you had a car insurance policy that covered you only against uninsured motorists, and a tree fell on top of your car, the repair costs that you would incur for that event would not be covered by your insurance company. For the insurance company to cover your car for repairs arising out of a tree having fallen on it, you should have opted also for the comprehensive coverage option. Now you see the wisdom of making the ideal choices for a perfect car insurance package!
The rental car reimbursement package is optional. Also, the premium for this option depends largely on the daily reimbursement that you ask for. If the daily reimbursement is high, the premium will be high as well.
Emergency Roadside Assistance - a Car Insurance Option for Emergencies!
This policy is not mandatory either, like the previous one discussed above. Having this policy allows you to claim compensation from the insurance company for any repairs that you might have had to perform while on the road. Imagine that you are going along on the highway and suddenly have a flat tyre. You call the mobile repair service to come and fix it. Any expense that you incur during this exercise would be taken care of by the car insurance company.
Or suppose you are traveling on a lonely stretch of highway ad your car suffers an engine breakdown. You call up the towing service to come and tow your car to the nearest garage. The money that the towing service takes from you would be paid by the insurance company. However, you must note that this option does not entitle you to compensation for any repairs or servicing undertaken in a garage or a service station. For that again, you would have to have a separate option in your insurance cover.
There are some more options available from which you can select your ideal car insurance cover. These include SR-22 (for drivers with speeding or traffic-related violations), gap insurance, an umbrella policy, no fault coverage, etc. So you have a really wide array of options from which to select your ideal car insurance package. However, merely choosing the best options is just not enough. You also have to be judicious in choosing the limits for these options, so that you don't end up paying too much for very little benefits.
