Benefits of Travel Insurance on Trip Interruption
If your trip is not completed on account of any of the following reasons, your travel insurance policy provides the following benefits:
· Payment of any unused, non-refundable prepaid costs associated with the trip, up to the permissible limit.
· Return one way economy fare to your original destination.
Benefits of Travel Insurance on Delay in Travel
When delay occurs, you are entitled to claim the following to your travel insurance policy:
· Additional transportation to return back or to join the trip, including up to a specified amount daily for accommodation and meals, if the return travel includes an unplanned overnight stay.
· Refund of unused non-refundable portion of prepaid expenses. The delay must exceed 6 hours and be due to the carrier.
Benefits of Travel Insurance on a Missed Connection
When the connection to the carrier is missed, the travel insurance policy provides:
· Additional transportation cost to join the cruise or tour.
· Accommodation and meals if you miss your cruise or tour because the flight was canceled/delayed for more than 3 hours due to either delay by carrier or deteriorated weather conditions.
Benefits of Travel Insurance in Respect of Missing Baggage
You may claim from your travel insurance company up to $250 per piece of baggage lost, stolen or damaged. Any claim will be below either the value of that item minus usual depreciation or the cost of repair to that item or replacement with a similar item. A limit of $500 applies claims chargeable from your travel insurance policy in respect of loss to any jewelry, watch, items made wholly or partly of silver, gold or platinum, items trimmed with fur and cameras and related equipment.
If your passport is lost, you may claim a maximum of $50 and if your credit card is lost and subsequently misused, the maximum permissible claim is $50.
If your checked in baggage is misdirected or delayed beyond 24 hours, you may claim the amount spent on purchase of necessary items to sustain you in the meantime.
Medical Expenses Chargeable to Travel Insurance
· Treatment for any injury or sickness during the trip, if treatment commences within 30 days and up to 365 days.
· Emergency Dental treatment up to $750.
· The limit to reimbursement is the usual, customary charge for the service provided.
Cost of medical evacuation when the injury or sickness is life threatening and adequate treatment is not available close by. Evacuation expenses paid up to the nearest point where necessary facilities are present. Repatriation is paid for when it is deemed necessary that you return home or to a hospital near your home for continued treatment. Economy return transportation for any dependant accompanying children under 18 if you are confined to hospital for beyond 7 days. If traveling alone and hospitalized beyond 7 days then a round trip to anyone you nominate by the most economical route.
Pre-existing condition limitation is applicable but set aside in case of medical evacuation.
