Domain Name Registration Made Easy
The first trick to domain name registration is to find out what the name is going to be. The first question to ask is how this will portray the image of your company into the world of the world wide web. Names can be anything as long as they are not already taken in the registry.
The Perfect Name for the Domain Name Registration
Originality is key in this search for the perfect name. The name is what will broadcast the company image in the internet. Perhaps, though, the business name is what you have chosen to use. This is fine, as long as it is not already in use at a domain name registration site. If it is in use at the site it means it has already been taken. Someone has already bought the right to own it for as many years as they purchased it for. This does not mean that all is lost, however, even domain names that are purchased may be sold. Only the owner my sell the rights to the domain, though.
To verify whether the name is taken all one has to do is enter the name into any domain name registration site. The site will tell you if the name has already been registered. It will also give information on who purchased the name in case a party wishes to contact the purchaser to acquire the name. The sites to register the domain name are quite easy to use. The more popular of these are register.com or godaddy.com. Go Daddy is the much cheaper route in domain name registration, however.
Once you have chosen the name the next step is to register at the domain name registration site of your choice. This is a simple process.
The Simple Process of Domain Name Registration
To register the chosen domain name simply enter the name into the registry as the site will instruct. The site will process the information needed step-by-step. The site will also verify that the name is not taken in this process. Just because the name is not taken in one type does not mean it is fully not taken, for example, "mysite" may be open in the .com type but taken in the .org type. Once the name is proven to be available the choices of type (this is .com, .org, .net, etc.) will be given.
Choose one or all of the types that are not already taken to purchase. To purchase, the site will give options of how many years the purchase is for. The purchase may buy the domain for as short as one year or as long as ten years depending on the amount of money available to spend at the time.
If money is a major issue in deciding on whether or not to purchase a domain name, perhaps, the first step is to look at web hosting. Many web hosting companies now offer free domain name registration. No matter what choice is made a domain name registration does not ensure a presence on the world wide web, however, it is the major first step in that direction.
