What is a prepaid credit card? Well these days any one can get a credit card. Go to any gas station or discount store and you can buy a prepaid credit card. You pay for the credit card balance before you use the balance to buy other goods and or services.
Give the Gift of a Prepaid Credit Card
Prepaid credit cards make great gifts. If you buy a store gift card and give it as a gift, the gift card can only be used at that particular store. If you give a prepaid credit card as a gift, it can be used any where the logo on the card is accepted. This could be hundreds of places the receiver can use the gifted credit card. Prepaid credit cards are good gifts to send to family and friends out of state. Most states do not have the same named stores, so the gift card can be used any where the receiver shops.
Who Can Get a Prepaid Credit Card?
Any one who can pay for a particular balance available on a prepaid credit card can get a prepaid credit card. If you go to the gas station and see that they have prepaid credit cards for sale and you have the cash to pay for that card, you may get one. There is not a background or credit report check done on any body that wants to get a prepaid credit card.

Classic credit cards verse prepaid credit cards. Classic credit cards are only available to those of us that can be accepted through the application process. Prepaid credit cards are available to any one with money to pay for the balance before using the credit card. Classic credit cards will charge you monthly for service charges and interest charges. Prepaid credit cards are only a one time cost, no matter what.
If you lose a classic credit card, you may call the credit card company and report the lost card so you are not responsible for charges incurred while you did not have the credit card in your care. If you lose a prepaid credit card you can not do anything about it for that card is not registered with any one. So the found credit card can be used by any body. Making this choice between the two is easy. Use the prepaid credit cards for gifts and get a classic credit card for your own personal use.

If you choose to prepay up the balance on your credit card, you have that choice. You will have a balance credit added to your credit card bill for future purchases. This could keep you from getting into debt. If your credit card has a credit toward the balance, the purchases you make will not cost as much in the end. Prepayment of credit card balances will make interest charges less, this means that the balance will also be smaller than expected.
