What's the Best Credit Card? Depends on Who You're Asking

A Credit Article Contributed by Cathy Wilson

Of Course You Want to the Best Credit Card!

As teenagers would say, this is a "duuuh" question. Without a doubt everybody wants the best credit card. Unfortunately there are only certain people who can qualify for the best credit card, and that's another "duuuh" -- the ones who qualify are the ones with the best credit.

There are all sorts of credit cards on the market and they're absolutely not all the same. If you choose unwisely, you can get yourself into a huge amount of unnecessary debt not very far down the road. It's a cutthroat business, the credit card racket, and the credit card companies put themselves through a lot of hoops just to get your business.

A List of the Best Credit Cards

The best offers in credit cards include the following:

Low Interest Credit Cards

Student Credit Cards

Online Deals You can't Refuse

Small Business Credit Card offers

Reward Credit Cards

Rebate Credit Cards

Travel Reward Credit Cards

Gas Reward Credit Cards

Small Business Rewards Credit Cards

Business Travel Credit Cards

Here are some highlights of the best credit card offers:

Low Interest credit cards start you out with an incredible interest rate (try 0%) for six months and then bump up to a higher rate, generally close to 10%. You can take advantage of the beginning rate by transferring high-interest balances to the lower rate. That's how a lot of people juggle out-of-control credit; not a great fix, but something in between disaster and treading water.

Student credit cards may offer cashback (5% cash back on eligible purchases at supermarkets, drugstores and gas stations and 1% cash back on all other purchases), or they offer points applicable toward rewards, or perhaps travel rebates. These cards can hook ya young and keep ya dangling on the credit precipice for the rest of your young life.

Reward and Rebate Credit cards basically kick you back a percentage of your purchases or rack up points for rewards or trips you can win. It's borderline scam because you want to keep buying stuff so you can get the measly reward, sometimes hardly worth it.

Business Cards also offer you kick-backs and sometimes discounts at eligible business suppliers like Kinkos or Staples. This could matter a lot if you buy tons of stuff at such locations.

The Best Credit Card Ever

The best credit card ever is the one you pay up fully every month. Be smart and get yourself a decent deal, but remember that most interest rates start rising to a pretty predictable level after six months. If you REALLY screw up, miss payments, pay late or do other no-no's you will end up paying exorbitant interest, because even the best credit card becomes a terrible one if you miss the all-important deadlines.
