Online Credit Card Applications

What is an Online Credit Card Application?
An online credit card application is a quick way to save yourself a lot of paperwork hassle. Once you decide in which card you want all you have to do is to apply. There are several methods for applying for a card; you can apply over the phone, or by filling out the old fashioned paper application, which you then post. The easiest method, by far, however, is to apply for the card online. If you choose this application method, you should get an instant approval.
If not, the credit card company will notify you, via mail, usually within 5-10 working days. If you are approved via the online application, you should be given your account details, right then and there, so you can begin using your card immediately.
What Does the Online Credit Card Application Process Consist Of?
The credit card application process is pretty straightforward. The credit card company will want to verify that you are capable of paying back the loan and a reasonable time period. In order to make this decision, they will run a credit check on you. Whenever you pay a bill, like an auto loan, credit card, or even a utility bill, the payment usually gets reported to one of the three credit agencies, TransUnion, Equifax, or Experian.
This information is used by the credit agencies when evaluating your credit card application, and it also acts as a guide marker when the company assigns you an interest rate.
What Do I Do If I Get Turned down on an Online Credit Card Application?
While many credit card applications are approved, some are not. But don't despair, if you are turned down for an offer for a credit card. There are many options available to you. You can choose to sign up for a secured card. A secured credit card is a card which is linked to a savings account; if there is $500 in the savings account, you have $500 worth of 'credit.' Should you be late with a payment, the card company is authorized to deduct the payment out of your account. An unsecured card is a card, which is not linked with a savings account; it functions primarily as a loan.
There are hundreds of credit card offers out there, geared to those with a history of damaged credit. Unfortunately, however, many of these offers are one step away from being pure money making scams, and are best avoided. For example, one MasterCard which is offered online has an extraordinary annual fee of over two hundred dollars, and charges a $10 application fee. Others offer similar high annual fees and outrageous interest rates, while not offering any rewards programs, whatsoever.
There are, however, credit card programs which are geared towards consumers who want to rebuild their credit. For example, Bank of America offers a secured credit card deal, which is a starting point for getting one of its unsecured cards.
So, regardless of your credit history, you will find a credit card that is just right for you.
