Undelete File Should Be on Your Keyboard

Have the need to undelete a file and you will see that it is a little more difficult than deleting a file. There are shortcuts on your keyboard for deleting a file or a selection of text or object that send the delete straight to deletion hell. According to the Microsoft support site the shortcut is "SHIFT+DELETE: Delete selection immediately, without moving the item to the Recycle Bin".

Of course this description really isn't accurate because if you immediately use the shortcut CTRL Z, the selection returns. If programmers can make this happen then why can't they design a shortcut to undelete a file after it has left the recycle bin?

Undelete a File Should Be Simple

With the advent of the recycle bin undelete became a little easier. So much easier in fact that some of us have become a little lax about tracking our files. Those of us that are good at keeping house will empty our recycle bin from time to time. But on occasion a file slips past us and we end up deleting it when we shouldn't have. What to do when this happens?

A simple undelete command that allows the entry of the file name would be really nice. Are all of you programmers listening? It would be really, really nice.

Undelete File Fever

Since the DOS operating system days undelete file utility software has been on the market. Requests to undelete a file have been around for a while, hence the recycle bin. The undelete file software is still on the market. It is new and improved and provides more than the capability to undelete just a file.

Undelete file software has features that allow you to not only undelete the file but also undelete a deleted partition on your hard drive. The software can also undelete files and folders from a formatted disk. That's right, a disk that you have reformatted and for all intents and purposes have erased can be undeleted to retrieve any files from the disk. Pretty nice tool, huh?

Take some time to run an Internet search on undelete file utility or software. The search will return thousands and possibly close to half a million sites that sell or have some connection with undelete file utility software. Look for the software package that your operating system needs. The software is usually priced in the same range as virus software.

Undelete File Know How

There is one step you can take to help your undelete file software along. When you realize that you need to retrieve a file, stop what you are doing. That's right stop what you are doing. It may have been quote some time since the file was deleted and the odds of you retrieving the file may be low. By stopping and not using your computer, don't even reboot if you can help it, you are raising the odds that your file will be retrieved. Run your undeleted software utility immediately for best results.
