Why the Need for File Recovery?
File recovery falls right inline with the sun coming up in the east and the sun setting in the west. It has become one of those accepted necessities of the IT world. File Recovery happens. But that is not the end of the story. There are some things that can be done to ease the file recovery process. Let's take a look at a few.
File Recovery Prevention Plans
Okay, well the need for file recovery can't be prevented as a whole but it can be eased in some situations. File recovery can happen in a number of ways. From full disaster recovery requiring a full recovery of a whole network, operating systems, software and finally the recovery of the data files to a simple finding and recovery of a file you just deleted from the recycle bin to corrupted files that need some delicate unwinding, file recovery can be eased.
The backup plan is the best friend of file recovery. If a routine backup plan has been followed faithfully and the plan is a good up to date process, meaning its lag time between producing a file and file backup is not large, then you can always restore the needed data file from the backup.
In creating the backup plan make sure your locating the backup data on a media that is not your hard drive. Most IT departments have worked through a backup process and know the importance of off site recovery capability. If you are a user at one of these companies it is not necessary for you to go through this process as well.
File Recovery Software at Home
If you are a home PC user and you store valuable personal information on your PC or you work from home all the time or on occasion you would be wise to locate a good file recovery software program. Your needs as a personal user are a little more personally intense when it comes to file recovery. In a work setting you have an IT department to turn to. At home you have yourself and any technician you may choose to hire to help you. But those late night forays into document creation can often lead to deleting an important file late in the night. Not a good time to call a technician.
In such instances it is reassuring to have a filer recovery software program already loaded on your PC. It's ready to assist you when the need arises. Make sure you test the software before the need for recovery reveals itself. It will relieve some of the panic that happens during a file deletion incident.
File Recovery Backup Plans for the Home
It may seem like a pretty silly idea to create your own backup plan. You may think it silly or unnecessary. Do not make the mistake of discounting your file recovery needs by comparing your data to the volumes of data that are created in a business environment. Lost data is lost data and if that data has value to you and it's lost well I think you see where I am going with this.
