Just what does your credit report say about you? In your credit report is your name and any variation of your name. Your phone number and past phone numbers including unlisted phone numbers are also in there. Your address is there and your employment history, too. Any bills you have owed or do still owe are also on there. Any kind of bill could include, phone bills, utility bills, medical bills, rent and or loans. You will also find your social security number on your credit report.
With all this information, one could say that your credit report speaks and speaks loud about you. All the information included on your report can be used for many reasons. You may need to get a loan for an auto, this means that someone is going to see your credit report. Remember it speaks!
What is a Credit Report Rating?
Credit report rating is a number given to you for your credit report information from the credit bureau. This rating allows for financial institutes or even landlords to see your information on how you have payed past bills. If you have been a late payer or had a bounced check once or twice, this information will be on your report for them to view. These things will make your credit report rating low and low is not good. You want to have a large credit score or rating, bigger is better.
Who is Allowed to See Your Credit Report?
Depending on where you live, no one can see your credit report unless you have signed a paper stating they has permission. You need to call your local government to see if this rule applies in your state. If this rule does not apply in your state, then may be just about any one could see your credit report. If you need a loan or a new checking account and such things, you will need to sign a paper to allow for your credit report to be viewed. With out this information you will not be helped.
How Do You Correct Errors on Your Credit Report?
You may get a copy of your credit report. This is a smart thing to do once a year. You can find out if there have been any errors on your report. If you happen to find an error, you can have it disputed with in the credit bureau. The credit bureau wants to have the correct information. They will work with you to fix the error. If you have a simple address error or phone number error, the bureau will be glad to fix that as soon as possible for you.
If you see a bill that remains to show unpaid, but you believe you have paid it, you will have to show proof of payment for this particular bill. The credit bureau will also have to call the place that has requested you to pay the bill to confirm you have actually paid that bill.
