Securing Files on the Desktop


Entrust Entelligence™ File Plug-in provides automatic and transparent encryption of files in folders to protect sensitive information on workstations and laptops.

Unlike products that require users to understand how security works, the File Plug-in runs in the background to automatically protect folders that have been specified by the user or administrator.

Taking full advantage of Entrust's enhanced security management capabilities delivered by the Entrust Authority™ product portfolio, the File Plug-in makes it possible to encrypt sensitive information without the risk of losing data if users forget their passwords, or if a user leaves the organization-the keys used to decrypt information are automatically and securely backed up, so that data can be recovered based on the security policy of the organization.

KEY FEATURES

Easy to Use
Entrust Entelligence File Plug-in runs in the background to automatically protect sensitive information within specified folders on workstations, laptops or network drives. Users or administrators select the files or folders they want to protect, simply right-click on them and select the encryption option in the menu- the File Plug-in takes care of the rest.

Constantly monitoring file system activity, the File Plug-in can automatically encrypt files that are saved in specified folders or when the system shuts down. It also automatically performs secure deletion of files and folders.

Helps to Meet Government Legislation and Criteria
The File Plug-in protects files using FIPS 140-1 validated Entrust technology. In addition, the File Plug-in helps to comply with information security requirements by protecting the Windows SWAP file. The File-Plug-in automatically locates hidden temporary files and securely deletes files from the disk.

Enhanced Security Management and Administration
Through its integration with Entrust Authority, the File Plug-in allows users to recover their encrypted files - even when they forget their passwords. This is accomplished through automated key backup and recovery.

Entrust Entelligence File Plug-in allows administrators to centrally enforce which folders on user's desktops will be protected and if these folders will be protected automatically. As well, administrators can grant partial or full control of data protection to users.

The File Plug-in provides the flexibility to protect data according to the way that users work while applying the security policies of the organization.
