Under Secretary for Economic, Business, and Agricultural Affairs

The Under Secretary for Economic, Business, and Agricultural Affairs, Alan P. Larson, serves as the senior economic official at the State Department; advises the Secretary of State on international economic policy; and leads the work of the Department on issues ranging from trade, agriculture, and aviation to bilateral relations with America's economic partners.

The inaugural "Forum for the Future" meeting took place on December 11, 2004, in Rabat, Morocco. Secretary Powell joined Foreign and Finance Ministers from BMENA (Broader Middle East and North Africa) and G-8 countries at the event. The meeting also included business and civil society representatives.

U.S.-China Economic Relationship
Under Secretary Larson's remarks a Beijing University on the contribution of Food and Agriculture to growing the U.S.-China economic relationship.

Trade, Development, and International Understanding
Under Secretary Larson's remarks at the Rotary Club of Washington on the importance of trade, specifically the Doha Round and other important initiatives on the Broader Middle East, the Millennium Challenge Corporation and the eradication of polio.
