The Person Responsible for the Computer Backup
The person responsible for the computer backup within a company needs to have a variety of key skills.
Not Remote Computer Backup.
Obviously, the first choice for the majority of businesses should be to have their computer backup run by a remote computer backup specialist. This would give a company the peace of mind that their backup was being run by competent specialists who will not only provide a safeguard in the event of a computer backup being required for restoration. It also ensures that experienced professionals are on hand should restoration be required.
In the crisis that always ensues when a computer backup is required, it is difficult for anyone to keep a level head about how to pragmatically deal with the problem. Those involved with remote backup operations are used to dealing with these sorts of crisis and could be able to help make a decision about whether or not a full system backup is needed or if only a couple of important files should be reinstated.

But, for those companies who do not wish to obtain the services of remote computer backup specialists, it does make sense to delegate the duty to one or more employees.
Before making any decision about which person to trust with the company's computer backup you need to consider the following factors:
* Security. The person controlling and holding onto the backup will, effectively, have a copy of the company's information infrastructure. This means that the person responsible must be trustworthy.
* Computer literacy. It goes without saying that the person responsible for the company's computer backups should be computer literate but, all too often, people impose the duty on trusted individuals who have little or no knowledge about computer backups. If, as an employer, you are thinking of delegating this task to someone with limited skills it would be advisable to appropriate suitable training.
* Authority. Although computer backups can be performed while files are open and being accessed the majority of backup routines are still more effective when all files are closed down and any network is free from activity. In these situations the person responsible for instigating the backups needs to have the appropriate authority to tell users to stop working on files and shut down the network in preparation for the backup.
* Responsibility. Because the person is going to be responsible for the safety of the company's information, and will be the person called on should restoration be required, it makes sense to trust the task to an individual who will get the job done effectively and efficiently. There are countless horror stories circulating the internet about supposedly trusted individuals who failed to fulfill their duties and left companies on the brink of collapse due to their negligence.
Take Computer Backups Regularly.
It also needs to be remembered that more than one person can be responsible for taking necessary backups. This will help to cover staff absences, illnesses and other occasions when a single individual is unable to meet the demands of doing daily backups.
