Gas Credit Cards for the Traveling Salesman

First off, What is a "Gas Credit Card"?

A gas credit card is a credit card specifically designed for the purchase of fuel. It can be used at almost any gas station that accepts credit cards (most often right at the pump! ), though they are typically tailored to a particular company. For instance, one of the more popular credit cards is the Shell Gas Card. This card will work anywhere, but you will get an added bonus when using it at a Shell station.

Sometimes these cards can be used for regular purchases, but often they can be used solely for gasoline. Outside of this on restriction, they function the same as any other credit card. The gas you purchase is charged to your account, you get the bill at the end of the month (or beginning, middle, or whenever you get it! ), and then you pay your bill. There is an interest fee, though they are typically much lower than the interest fee you would find on a standard credit card.

I Travel Often, Can a Gas Credit Card Help Me Out?

Of course they can! Who wants to carry hundreds of dollars in cash just for gasoline? Of course, you could always use another regular credit card, but who wants to pay the high interest rates, and besides, you might need that card to purchase a hotel room, or dinner! Gas credit cards will allow you to feel safe and secure knowing that if something happens, you will be able to buy gasoline if you need it. You won't have to worry about spending all your cash, or using your full limit on another card, and then not be out of gas!

In addition to this, gas credit cards give you rewards. If you travel frequently (as often happens in sales), you will earn plenty of rewards to justify the use of the card. Plus, most cards (that are specific to a certain gasoline company), will give you an immediate discount on fuel. That means that not only do you save money right there at the pump, but you can also earn rewards and cash back (if your card has these programs).

With My Traveling, I Don't Have Much Time. Where Can I Apply for a Gas Credit Card Quickly?

There are two options. If you look on the pump at your favorite gasoline station, often they will have applications right there! You can even fill it out right away, and hand it to the clerk inside the station. That is by far the easiest way to apply for a gas credit card. You can also drop it off with the clerk at the next gas station you visit, as long as they are the same company! ) The other option is the internet.

You may or may not have time to get online, with your busy schedule, but if you do, simply go to a search engine, type "gas credit card" into the text box, and then click the search button. Within a few seconds you will see web sites offering gas credit cards. Pick one and you're off!
