Why Data Recovery?

Some data recovery is best left to the experts. If your computer has suffered some physical harm or does not respond to a regular reboot, then its time to call in a data recovery engineer. Although even a computer novice can perform some simple data recovery, there are other situations when an expert is needed.

What to Know before You Call the Data Recovery Expert

Before you call a data recovery company, do your homework. When shopping for a data recovery expert time is of the essence. You will probably need to (and are most likely very anxious to) recover your data as quickly as possible. But, before you go shopping for a data recovery expert find out as much as you can about your computer. Jot down, if possible exactly what happened- what program you were working on and what other programs were active when your computer shut down or froze.

If your computer had been acting up lately, note the times and what programs or program were operating when the computer started acting up. Jot down the year and type of operating system your computer works on. Also, find out the size of your drive since this will help the experts when retrieving your data.

Shopping for Data Recovery

Shopping for date recovery should be treated the same as shopping for a vehicle. When you shop for a vehicle, you want a dependable car for a reasonable amount of money. You want to purchase a vehicle that carries a good reputation. The same goes for data recovery services. Before accepting the services of a data recovery company, find out how long they have been in busy. Although you may not know much about computer systems, find out what is the process they take to retrieve your data.

If your data recovery expert begins to use too much computer lingo leaving you confused, stop him or her and ask questions.

Here are some other questions to ask: 1) Will they use a diagnostic tool to find out exactly how much data can be recovered, 2) Do they offer more than one plan to recovering your data, 3) How many data recovery engineers will be working on your computer (remember- two heads are better than one and a team of experts can offer more solutions that a solo expert), 4) How will the data that is recovered be saved? ,

5) Do they require a down payment, 6) Do they offer a free estimate, 7) Do they offer emergency data recovery, 8) Is their work guaranteed and for how long, 9)Once recovered, will your data be kept confidential, 10) Can the data that is recovered be saved onto another computer that you may own , 11) How long will the entire process take and 12) Does the work have to be done in their offices or can the data recovery process be done in your own home (rememeber- if the damage to your hard-drive is extensive this may require that your computer be taken to a diagnostic lab for testing).

Date Recovery is Possible

If your computer suffered some time of physical harm, there is still hope. Data recovery companies can offer solutions for over 80% of data recovery problems. Taking your time to ask the right questions can make data recovery an easy process.
