Playback of your primary digital surround and 2-channel sources is optimized in the PLayer/PRe6 front end. The Player decodes Dolby and DTS 5.1 surround as well as all full resolution DVD-A and SACD surround sources. You can easily optimize a surround system using the menu setup options within the PLayer and the level setup options in the PRe6. Superb performance can be had using systems with 4 or 5 main speakers, with or without a subwoofer. This system flexibility aims at meeting your desires, not dogmatically adhering to the belief that everyone must have a complex processor and 5.1 or even a 7.1 system for a quality surround experience.

The Video quality in either the PL-1 or PL-1A is extremely high so your video experience will hold its own with the superb audio. Using either the PL-1 or PL-1A you will connect directly from the PLayer to the video projector or monitor, avoiding the potential degradation from routing or switching units. This parallels the advantages of containing all digital processing in the PLayer and allowing the superb analog preamplifier performance of the PRe6 to handle all control and switching functions without the presence of either digital or video signals which could degrade the low level audio performance of the system.
