Materials & Tools for This Home Business

Almost all plant materials like branches, different types of grasses, moss, leaves, fruits and flowers are used for arrangements.Withered petals and buds are also used prominently.

Basic tools include clippers or "hasami", pin holder or "kenzan", and containers. The container is selected in keeping the design in mind. Bamboo baskets are used in warm weather and for making softer arrangements. For instance, an arrangement made from grass will be best suited in a bamboo container.

Glass containers are also very popular as they reflect the light which makes the color of the arrangement stand out even more.

Heika- an arrangement where a tall vase is used as the container.

Chabana- a simple arrangement specifically used for tea ceremonies. The tea ceremonies are very popular in Japan, the birth place of Ikebana.
