SIT Center for Teacher Education, Training, and Research

The mission of the SIT Center for Teacher Education, Training, and Research is to increase educational opportunities, improve learning, and deepen the knowledge and understanding of learning, teaching, and teacher education. Promoting research and practice, the center provides consultation, technical support, training, and sponsored research to client institutions. The center’s work with schools and organizations around the world provides significant employment resources for SIT Master of Arts in Teaching graduates.

Recent center initiatives include a three-year project to research the teaching of Spanish to learning-disabled adults; a partnership with Brazil’s oldest binational cultural center to bring learner-centered language teaching methods to more than 13,000 students; a Massachusetts statewide effort to set adult ESOL standards through the establishment of a curriculum framework; and a project to train teachers in Rwanda to teach English to members of the Rwandan parliament.
