- Directives Program (approving and releasing Department regulations)
- Forms Management Program (ensuring consistent and approved use of forms throughout the Department)
- Reports [regular] Management Program
- Information collection program
- Numbered delegations of authority
The Directives Office also performs external liaison functional responsibilities for the following areas:
- Federal Register (publishing Department of State material)
- Office of Management and Budget (regarding information collection from the public and rulemaking)
- General Services Administration (managing Department-generated interagency reports)
