 commerical... so what?
Yes, this is a magazine geared at getting you to buy stuff. That's why I read it... I like to buy stuff. Is that so terrible? If you don't want commercialism, then don't buy one of these lifestlye magazines. As for the comments that this is an "elitist" magazine, I just don't get it. The recent issue I was just looking at featured reasonably priced clothing ($50-60 for a well-fitting pair of pants isn't too much!!!), easy and cheap recipes, simple clothing and home repairs for saving money, reasonably priced furniture (for the quality, again-- and that's the important part!) and beauty products I could definietly afford to spring for (hair products for under $7!). What's elitist about that? In short, I like it. The magazine is attractive, has good content, and the best part is that the articles are short or divided into small chunks so that you don't have to read too much at a sitting... which is good for people like me who are really busy and want a magazine that is "Real Simple."
Makes Real Poly-Tasking Life Simpler
Be aware, there is a lot of, "This is what you need to buy," but who said real life and simple life managegment meant less? The point of this magazine, it is point out things that will make the real things in life simpler like: getting up in the morning, finding something to wear, making your home appealing, fixing good and new meals, getting your kids to school, finding time to spend with your family and yourself, exercising and eating to have more energy, improving upon the things that hold you back, and many many other suggestions. Most of us live in a world of not just multi, but poly-tasking. We live moment to moment trying to plan for the future and be nourished by the past, all at once. If you do not feel over extended some or most of the time, this magazine may not be for you. If you want no ad discussions and suggestions, this magazine is not for you. If you want to know where to find things, ideas and how to's that will cut out all of the research along with where to buy's, this magazine is for you. It helped organize, clean, write, deal with personal issues, find simple clothes that match and match and match so much in my closet and more--including cooking, money mangagement suggestions, etc.
My Favorite!
I read a lot of magazines, and this is my favorite (second favorite is Oprah's). There are so many useful articles. And this is the only magazine I actually keep after I read it - all the others I toss. I do this because I can refer back to them for helpful hints. This is a very well done magazine! Good job!
