Obtaining a Duplicate Alaska License

To obtain a duplicate Alaska driver license, you must apply in person at a DMV Office and:

  • provide two pieces of identification to prove your identity
  • pass a vision test
  • a new picture will be taken
  • pay a duplicate license fee (the expiration date remains the same as the lost license).

IMPORTANT NOTICE:  If you have obtained a license in another state after your last Alaska license was issued, you must follow all the rules as if you are applying for an original Alaska license, although your Alaska license number will remain the same.

TEMPORARY LICENSE:  If you are an Alaska resident and are temporarily out of state and have lost your license, a temporary can be mailed so that you can drive until you return home to obtain a new license.
