Road Test OptionsFollowing is a list of Third Party Testers that have been authorized by the Division of Motor Vehicles to conduct road tests for the general public. Most of them are for a non-commercial driver license (Class D), however, some of them can also test skills for a Class A, B or C Commercial Driver License (CDL) and motorcycles. For a motorcycle license, you may complete a Motorcycle Safety Foundation Course in lieu of a road test with the DMV. You must present your card showing that you have successfully completed the course in order to have the endorsement added to your license without taking a road test at DMV. You must obtain the endorsement within one year of passing the course. Please be aware that if you have a road test appointment with the DMV and decide to have your test performed by a Third Party Tester, you are not eligible for a refund with DMV. The Third Party Testers are all independent businesses and set their own fees. Please contact them directly for their fees You must have a valid Alaska permit or have written proof of passing your knowledge test prior to taking a road test. If you are under 18, you must have held a valid learners permit for a minimum of six (6) months and you must have a parental consent prior to taking a road test. See "Road Test Information" for further information.
