The National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) has a new exciting E-Commerce solution,
the Marine Data Exchange (MDX) system, designed to meet the needs of marine manufacturers and
their customers. Created in conjunction with the National Marine Distributors Association (NMDA),
MDX was designed to allow flow-trough communications of business documents, such as purchase
orders, invoices and shipping notices, as well as other documents such as engineering drawings.
MDX will:
- Provide direct "point-to-point" electronic communications (PC-to-PC) between the manufacturer
and their customers
- Enable automation with optional system integration
- Improve accuracy of information
- Reduce paperwork
- Eliminate manual data entry errors
- Eliminate errors due to illegible hand-written characters
- Eliminate lost invoices
- Speed up the invoice payment schedule
- Verify shipment receipt
- Eliminate need for follow-up telephone calls:
- Increases office staff efficiency
- Reduces long-distance telephone bills
- Verify better than "read receipts" which are not available through all e-mail services
- Bypass e-mail restrictions such as span blocking and virus filtering
- Provide a short return on investment - likely to pay for itself in a matter of months
Some of the benefits to your company are NO MORE:
- Lost orders or invoices in the mail or on the fax
- Calling for proofs of delivery
- Order errors because of illegible handwriting, and
- Wasting time on the phone racking up long distance charges and trading voice mails trying
to figure out an order, confirm an invoice receipt or verifying a shipment delivery
MDX brings supply chain efficiencies to manufacturers and customers helping to ensure the
continued growth and success of the entire marine industry by ensuring consumers can purchase
the items they want, when they want, at fair and reasonable prices.
