Do your friends tell you that you should start a work home business as an interior decorator? Are people constantly telling you that you are talented and they love what you have done with your home? Perhaps you should consider becoming an interior decorator. It's gratifying work and works well as a home business. In order to be a certified interior decorator, you have to take courses and you can do them on line.
Some on line schools allow you to pay as you go but perhaps you do not have the money to invest in school now. After all, you just started to stay home, perhaps because of the birth of a new baby and you do not have the extra money. Not to worry, there is an alternative.
Are There New Homes Being Built near Your Work at Home Business?
If there are new homes being built in your area you can ask the building contractor if he needs to decorate a model home. Ask him to give you a chance and tell him that you will keep your fees low or better yet, if you are in a position to do it, tell him you will do it for free. AFter all you are in a home business and you should not have too many initial expenses.
Then you must line up different merchandisers of rugs, furniture, kitchen ware and draperies and anything else that you will need to purchase for the home. You have to create a relationship with all vendors of house wares so this would be a good time to set it up. Once you have decorated your new model home you should take pictures of it. If you do not think you can do a professional enough job of it, have a professional photographer come in a take the pictures.
If you do this you can then create a portfolio you can use when you work in your home business. Most of the time you will be going to the home of the prospective client, but if a client wants to meet you in your home office, you will have pictures to show him or her.
Do Not Be a Control Person When You Work in Your Home Business
If you are a person who must be in control you should reevaluate your position. You must try to see if the person who is asking you to do the work really wants your design in the entire home or whether he wants to have some input. Some people would rather give the entire job of decorating their home to someone else. They could not care less. But if a person wants to have input in what you are doing you must give that person as much leeway as possible in decision making.
Even if you think that what that person is selecting is all wrong it's not your house, it's his or hers and the final decision should be left to them. A home speaks about a person and people want themselves to shine through not their decorator.
