The Importance of Being Earnest about Credit Card Comparison

The importance of credit card comparison is often ignored because any advertised credit card seems like it offers the best deal around. These slim pieces of plastic with their promise of extra money over and above our monthly budgets are so good we feel there's absolutely nothing at all to compare. But some credit cards are better than others, and some are just plain bad.

Why is it that when it comes to credit cards we use them like emus hide: our head in the sand and our wallets totally exposed? As self-respecting consumers we know we should shop around before we purchase anything. Well, the same should apply when we shop for credit cards.

What You Don't Know about Credit Card Comparison Won't Hurt You? Wrong!

When it comes to credit cards, what you don't know will always end up hurting you eventually. So you need to become knowledgeable of the facts behind your credit card. You also need to be completely in the know about other credit cards, too. Because there's always a better deal around the corner, so to speak, and you should be aware of it so that you can jump right out and apply for it.

Credit Card Comparison: What to Compare.

1. First up you should look at the introductory offer. Some cards flash zero percent interest rates as introductory offers. Nothing beats that. Others offer low interest rates as an introductory gift. But don't go all silly when you see these deals. Instead, reach for a magnifying glass and read the extra fine print that comes with the card. Does the rate apply for balance transfers only or for purchases, too? And how long exactly does the introductory rate last? After the introductory period is over, what sort of interest will you be paying then?

2. Secondly, when it comes to meaningful credit card comparison always scout through the information for all fees associated with your credit card of choice. Is there an annual membership fee? Is there a fee for balance transfers? Some cards offer a low interest rate, but pack on a hefty annual fee. Find out what, when and how much.

3. And finally, check out the additional goodies. Some cards give you frequent flier miles, but may charge you an annual fee. Others give you discounts on goods and services, cash rebates on purchases or insurance.

Remember that the internet makes it so easy to shop around and compare. Type in the words credit card comparison and see what comes up. In this fast paced consumer based society credit cards are absolutely necessary and we jump at the chance to fill our wallets with them, but some deals are better than others. Credit card comparison is essential, but remember: Whatever the deal, make sure you calculate what your end of the month saving will actually be. In the end, the deal you choose should actually save you money.
