Senior Manager, Public Relations

This position is available in Mountain View, CA.

The mission of Google's corporate communications team is "to amplify the Google difference worldwide." A key part of this effort is sharing our company vision to journalists, analysts, and influencers around the globe. We have an immediate need for an experienced PR professional to assist with the company's communications efforts. The ideal candidate has a proven record managing effective PR programs in both the U.S. and major countries in Europe and Asia and a precise understanding of how to leverage strategic media relations to enhance a company's leadership position.

Responsibilities:

  • Help shape and define strategic planning for communicating all aspects of Google's business to business press and analysts worldwide.
  • Represent Google as a company spokesperson and front-line point of contact for the media.
  • Help develop the company's point of view on a variety of issues.
  • Monitor external perceptions of Google and recommend strategic opportunities to enhance company's position or identity.
  • Work closely with communications colleagues around the world and company executives to handle all communications situations.
  • Team with internal communications department to develop messaging and talking points for employees and global sales force to use when interacting with customers, partners, and other members of the public.
  • Develop a wide variety of written materials, including press releases, Q&As;, opp-ed and contributed and bylined articles, position papers, speeches, etc.
  • Partner with consumer and international PR colleagues to develop creative and effective media outreach programs to position Google favorably with consumer print and broadcast media.

Experience:

  • BA/BA in journalism, communications or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 8-10 years in corporate communications field, a combination of agency and in-house experience.
  • Prior high-tech experience preferred and/or an "inner geek" sensibility.
  • Strong knowledge of public relations standards and practices.
  • Established relationships with global business/trade reporters and editors.
  • Excellent, proven verbal and written communications skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to participate on interdepartmental teams and coach executives.
  • Ability to work smart in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
  • Ability to think, plan, and execute resourcefully.

PR Specialist - Amsterdam

This position is available in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

Help us tell the story of our award-winning search engine in the Benelux region. Google has an immediate need for an experienced PR professional to develop and implement our international PR programs in the Benelux region. The Benelux PR Specialist will be the Amsterdam-based PR representative for Google, working as part of Google's International PR team to bring Google closer to the Benelux media.

The ideal candidate has a proven record of implementing effective PR programs in the Benelux region; a precise understanding of how to work with a variety of media in Dutch, French and English; and strong relationships with Benelux business, technology and consumer media. They must be able to work autonomously, in a remote office and under the constraints of differing time zones.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Works with International PR Manager to develop and implement effective and creative PR programs in the Benelux region to meet business objectives.
  • Responds to all incoming emails, voicemails and calls from Benelux press and analysts.
  • Develops written materials, such as press releases, Q&As;, backgrounders, pitch letters and reports.
  • Builds and maintains Google's Benelux press office; managing and updating all content on Google's Benelux Press Center, preparing press releases, articles, quotes, online press kit, managing press release distribution and maintaining media database.
  • Assists with planning and manages media tours and press events.
  • Schedules onsite, offsite and phone media interviews.
  • Provides support for all PR events, conferences, tradeshows.
  • Helps to manage external public relations resources.

Requirements:

  • University Degree and both Dutch and English language fluency required (French preferred).
  • A minimum of 4-5 years public relations experience. Both agency and in-house experience are preferred.
  • Excellent contacts and relationships with Benelux business, technology and consumer media.
  • Strong knowledge of public relations standards and practices in the Benelux region.
  • English to Dutch, Dutch to English translation experience helpful.
  • Ability to think, plan and execute resourcefully, in a location remote from rest of PR team.

PR Specialist - Madrid

This position is available in Madrid, Spain.

The Spanish PR Specialist will be the Spain-based PR representative for Google, working as part of Google’s International PR team to bring Google closer to the Spanish media.

The ideal candidate has a proven record of implementing effective PR programs in Spain; a precise understanding of how to work with a variety of media in Spanish; and strong relationships with Spanish business, technology and consumer media. They must be able to work autonomously, in a remote office and under the constraints of differing time zones.

Responsibilities:

  • Works with International PR Manager to develop and implement effective and creative PR programs in Spain to meet business objectives.
  • Responds to all incoming emails, voicemails and calls from Spanish press and analysts.
  • Develops written materials, such as press releases, Q&As, backgrounders, pitch letters and reports.
  • Builds and maintains Google’s Spanish press office; managing and updating all content on Google Spain Press Center, preparing press releases, articles, quotes, online press kit, managing press release distribution and maintaining media database.
  • Assists with planning and manages media tours and press events
  • Schedules onsite, offsite and phone media interviews.
  • Provides support for all PR events, conferences, tradeshows.
  • Helps to manage external public relations resources.
  • Monitor consumer, industry and competitive behavior in the Spanish market and provide local market expertise to the Google team.
  • Co-ordinate the production of marketing communications materials including sales collateral, presentations, merchandise, print and online advertising, email newsletters.
  • Evaluate trade shows and industry events and advise on where company participation or sponsorship would be appropriate. Negotiate and organize Google presence at these events.
  • Organize stand-alone Google events and workshops.

Requirements:

  • University Degree and both Spanish and English language fluency required.
  • A minimum of 4-5 years public relations experience. Both agency and in-house experience are preferred.
  • Excellent contacts and relationships with Spanish business, technology and consumer media
  • Strong knowledge of public relations standards and practices in Spain.
