Tapping into Your Skills to Start a Home Based Business
The biggest hurdle for any type of home based business is the starting point - knowing the type of business that you want to start and run to make some money out of your home.
You Must Choose a Type of Home Based Business That You Like.
There's no point in starting a home based business that you don't like, that would simply be illogical but the reason why this is the biggest hurdle is because most of us know what we're good at and what we like. But the problem lies within us - mentally.
Why mentally? Well, if you like to write, you'll start thinking "Who'd want to pay for my kind of writing? I write fiction! No one would want me to write fiction for them unless I am willing to write my own book".
In short, it means that the biggest hurdle at the starting point is ourselves. Our doubts. Our uncertainties.
Let's use another example. Let's say you like technical gadgets and you're, basically, what we all call a techno junkie. Anything that requires batteries or electricity, you're in for it! You can turn this into a home based business but then you'll have nagging doubts about the kind of people who would pay for your services or products since you can't differentiate your products or services from other types of electronical gadgets that consumers can easily get off the shelves of shops and supermarkets.
Why not sell cute electronical stuff catered for kids? Or learning aids that teachers can use to teach their students with? You're zooming into a small and niche market and everybody knows that when you zoom in on your niche market, it'll work if you put your heart into it!
Have Some Confidence in Your Skills and Your Home Based Business Will Bloom
That's very true. As long as you keep your confidence level high and maintain an optimistic outlook about your new home based business, there's absolutely NOTHING you cannot overcome. I say this with conviction - NOTHING!
Hank sells to you some children's books and he doesn't seem to know very much about the books that he's selling but he speaks with absolute certainty and is very confident in his delivery. Compare Hank to Jack who is trying to sell you watches. You think the watches are amazing and you like the design BUT Jack doesn't seem to be too confident with the watches himself. In fact, he turns away like he's ashamed of whatever that he's trying to sell you.
People Will Need Your Skill Somehow and You Need to Use This Skill to Turn It into a Lucrative Home Based Business.
Whether you believe it or not, there's this lawyer I know who loves to write and she has no experience in writing anything other than legal documents. The other literature that she has written in the past won't make it past a first grade teacher and needless to say, none of them have been published before.
Today, she's running her own team of writers and have a home based business making money writing and designing.
That person's me. And if I can bounce a toddler on one knee and rock the bouncer with the other leg while writing, there's no reason why you can't too.
