ILRS Prototype
-
ALG is currently heavily used for interlibrary lending
purposes and you may be interested in providing comment on the prototypes for
the new Australian Interlibrary
Lending Resource Sharing (ILRS) Directory.
-
The Library expects to release the redeveloped ILRS Directory
in the final quarter of 2000. The new ILRS service will be based on the
framework used for the Australian
Libraries Gateway (ALG). It will offer similar functionality to ALG (eg
searching and online updating) and will share some data across products.
-
Please remember that these *are* only prototypes and that we
want your feedback! Links to the 'Search' option in the top of screen will not,
for example, take you to the search option. The ILRS-L discussion list has been
established as an open, unmoderated list so you can participate in discussions
about the redeveloped Australian ILRS Directory or you can simply send your
comments to ilrs@nla.gov.au.
Read Around Australia 2000
-
Read
Around Australia 2000 Celebration Day is on August 25. The program aims to
stimulate students' interest in reading through participating in a variety of
actual and online activities.
-
ALG has its own list of 'Book clubs &
reading groups'.
Let us know if
there are any local clubs with a web presence that we should also include on
the page.
Futures in the Past
-
The Australian
Historical Association Conference will be held on 5-9 July 2000. ALG
promotional materials have been provided for the conference satchels.
-
ALG currently has over 300 libraries listed under the
"Local/Family History" library type, many of these from local historical
associations. We are always happy to
add new libraries
to ALG! Please let us know about any we have missed!
Law Librarians' Symposium 2000
- Conferences Galore this month - the Australian Law Librarians
Group (ALLG) is holding the Law Librarians' Symposium 2000, at the University
of Technology, Sydney 18-21 July. ALG material will appear in promotional
satchels.
