Delta pilots approve pay cuts
ATLANTA Delta Air Lines' pilots have approved a new contract that slashes their pay by a-third. The contract calls for one (b) billion dollars in wage concessions from the Delta's seven-thousand pilots. It's a huge victory for Delta, which has said it needed the concessions to stay afloat. But company officials have warned that the agreement still may not be enough to avoid bankruptcy. Delta has lost more than six (b) billion dollars since early 2001. Since then, the airline has eliminated 16-thousand jobs and cut the pay of other employees, including executives. Copyright 2004 Associated Press. All rights reserved.
