The Global Trade & Technology Network (GTN)
The Global Trade & Technology Network (GTN) is a USAID program that
promotes economic growth in developing countries through trade, investment,
and technology transfer. GTN assists small- and medium-sized enterprises
to build trade linkages, identify investment opportunities, and access
technologies. It enables firms worldwide to establish international trade
linkages through direct sales or direct purchases, agents/distributorships,
licensing and franchise agreements, and joint ventures. Trade and investment
leads in all industry sectors are matched with firms worldwide.
GTN firms are linked together by user-friendly Internet-based
trading software, which matches registered companies via
technology and product codes. GTN is free of charge to
all participants. But GTN is more than an e-commerce platform
for matching buyers and sellers. GTN has a strong global
network of representatives to help U.S. and foreign companies
enter international transactions. GTN’s Business
Development Specialists help U.S. companies follow-up on
GTN trade and investment leads and expand their international
trade activities. They also promote and develop relationships
through a network of partnerships with state trade offices,
chambers of commerce, trade associations, and other organizations
with the goal of securing GTN deals.
GTN’s expert staff in the U.S. and overseas assists companies
to finalize their transactions by providing market information, trade
and investment financing referrals, other related services. GTN works
with federal, state, and private partner organizations to assist firms
in identifying sources of financing for their transactions.
GTN features targeted programs to assist U.S. firms in the environment,
energy, and information and communications technology sectors. These
technologies help firms in emerging markets build production capacity,
become more competitive, and become potential global partners for U.S.
firms. For the environmental sector, GTN works closely with USAID’s
partner program, the Eurasian-American Partnership for Environmentally
Sustainable Economies (EcoLinks).
