When overseas, some family members find work at the Embassy or Consulate, some find employment on the economy of the host country, while others freelance or manage a home-based business.  Telework is also an option for relocating spouses.  View statistics which illustrate Foreign Service spouse employment at 210 posts worldwide.  To increase opportunities for family member employment, the Family Liaison Office facilitates negotiation of bilateral work agreements. Employment Options for Foreign Service Family Members - this 13-chapter publication is designed to assist Foreign Service family members with their employment search. The new edition takes into consideration the growth of the Internet and the impact this technology has had on the employment process. Chapter 13 contains nearly 50 pages of resources, both domestic and international, listing addresses, fax and phone numbers, web sites and other important information.
