Copyright Infringement
An issue of web copyright infrinement has come to my attention. Cutting and pasting parts or sections of descriptions from my site. Am trying to deal with this with offending site owner, however am trying to prepare for the probable eventuality that other actions will have to be taken. How good are Yahoo, Google and other SEs at actually enforcing Digital Millennium Copyright Act ("DMCA") Policy??? If I send a complaint, will they read it? If so, will I be waiting weeks or months for action?

msn launch
is rumoured for February 1st. I'm still wondering how they're managing to please absolutely everyone I know - by definition if x many people have improved SERPS in beta the same number must have worse results but has anyone met anyone who doesn't like the beta results? It's all a bit spooky :?

Hello, I'm glad i found this website for it has lots of useful tips and a good # of people to help other in times of need! That's why im hoping you could help me out! I submitted my website to google (2 weeks ago) plus i had websites with PR 5,6 link to my website! My website is still not indexed in google, however, the websites that link to my website are! I mean, if i search "mydomain.+com" i get 20 results that link to my website! Nonetheless, the googlebot hasnt been lazy, visiting my website almost on a daily basis! Now, today i saw...i run a phpBB forum and i have a mod installed for crawlers! And today it said Googlebot used something: http://www.widexl.com/remote/search-engines/metatag-analyzer.html ! Curious, i went over there and typed in my URL! I've got couple of things in RED, the ones i think matter the most and yet appear in red are: Title, Keywords, Description with the note: They contain poison keywords. The poisonous keyword is none other than FORUM! Im wondering if i should change this keyword to BOARD, Community or something else! I myself, dont want to since more people would rather type blabla forum than blabla board so i think it would attract more visitors! BUT, will FORUM scare away googlebot or other SEs? Thanks in advance!

Yahoo Stemming?
Okay, I don't have any definitive proof and didn't do hours upon hours with other test searches to see how it panned out. However, has anyone seen any proof of Yahoo expanding their keyword stemming? For example, this morning, I did a search for apple bird. number three was titled "Fiona Has Wings", as was the URL of the website. Of course the content was about Fiona Apple and some other junk. It looks like a natural listing and not a Overture one. So, any thoughts or opinions?

Does Anyone use Google Anymore?
I am asking this because something weird is going on... my traffic in the past 2 weeks has shot up... all with the word MSN and Yahoo as where it came from.. The Search Engine Traffic... It was so lopsided that I thought something was wrong... Normally my traffic is 50% Google and 30% Yahoo and 15% MSN and the rest was various Search Engines like Dogpile or whatever. Now this is the problem... out of the past 1000 people or so that came from Search Engines.. 400 Yahoo .. 400 MSN ... 100 Google.. 100 Dogpile, Hotbot, Altavista.... uhh... Google is now in the same class as Dogpile ?? The reason I am posting this is because I checked all my rankings... everything is near or actually improved on Google.. and on multiple datacenters... It's not that "oh maybe the terms of searches favor "yahoo" The reason it can't be is because this is a brand new issue that is showing up in the past week.... it was never like this... and the search term rankings are the same as before.. Something is Going on....

web page counter
Can anyone recommend a good free web counter (an invisible one). I have one now but it seems to slow my webpage from opening.

Google not working
Google on my computer has not been working. I have the toolbar installed, and whenver I type anything into it, it goes to "page cannot be displayed" if I try to go to google.com either by typing it into the address bar or by clicking on a link from another site, it goes to "page cannot be displayed." Whenver I try to use a search enginge powered by google on another site, it does the same. Ive tried uninstalling the google toolbar and internet explorer updates, but when Ive reinstalled them it hasn't helped. I've tried using FireFox and that hasn't helped. I've searched forums for info on Google viruses and haven't found anything. I've removed all spyware with comcast.com virus protection software. Has anyone heard of this happening, or have any idea of how to fix it? Any help would be much appreciated!

www.rlwebsite.com
About a month ago I started my new website RL Website (www.rlwebsite.com). I have tried to get it noticed banner swap, search engine submit....etc. yet I have only had about 100 hits. Despite asking nobody has emailed me letting me know what they think of my site. So has anyone got some tips for how to get my site visitors or could someone please take to the to visit www.rlwebsite.com and email me on what they think of it. I will do likewise Cheers Richard

High Rankings Search Engine Optimization

tigger: How Useful Is Wordtracker? (Keyword Research)
Why don't you try wordtracker for a day? In the Uk it gives you the choice of having it for a day, week, etc. I quite often just sign up for the day (use it like mad for 24 hours) and then use it again in a month's time. It even keeps all your old search term research when you log in and pay the next time.

I think it's great value (only about £4 in Uk for a day)

tigger: Testing Keywords In Google Adwords (Keyword Research)
Hi

I have just taken on a website and it is proving very hard to find out just what people search for when they buy this website's products. They sell lingerie, and as you can imagine there are lots of guys searching for lingerie terms but they don't really wont to buy any lingerie (if you get my drift!)

I have heard other people saying that they use Google Adwords as a bit of a sounding board. I'm keen to do this (and add conversion tracking) but how long would I need to do the test for? weeks? months? and does anyone have any tips?

Thanks - Tigs :P

tigger: Overture Search Term Suggestion Tool (Keyword Research)
Yep me too - couldn't get into it atall yesterday

Does anyone know if Wordtracker can also give you the Overture PPC bids for the UK (instead of the US??) Or any other tool that could do that? (other than overture bids tool - which would take me forever).

Thanks

tigger: Using Wordtracker (Pay-per-click (PPC) Search Engine Advertising)
Hello again.

Just wondered if anyone could think of a tool that gives you the PPC bids for your terms on Overture (UK only)???? (other than overture bids tool)

I thought that maybe one of you UK experts has come across something?????

Haystack: Search Engines Give Bloggers Control (Industry News)
It will be interesting to see how long it takes until someone writes a feature for Firefox that will differentiate links with and without the given tag. I imagine link related programs like Arelis will also react to this.

Randy: Search Engines Give Bloggers Control (Industry News)
I agree Nathan. It's a good first step anyway.

Six Apart and some of the other blog makers have been looking for and pushing for a way to get some control over the blog spam. From what I've read they were the ones who got the ball rolling.

This one won't stop the folks who make blogs themselves just to spam, but that's another ballgame.

Hopefully everybody will hear about it and update their blog code. It looks to be a pretty simple process for MovableType, who already have a patch out. Gonna test it with my own personal blog tomorrow probably to see if anything breaks. Since mine is pretty heavily modded, and I need to apply another small upgrade first it should be a good test.

If it doesn't I'll ship off a note all of the folks I host that have MT blogs urging them to do so as well.

Randy: Congrats, Randy. 4000 Posts. (The Pub)
omg :slap: I didn't even realize it since I'm a scanner instead of a reader.

Let's see... 4,000 posts times an average of 2,000 words per novel...erm rambling post.

No wonder my fingers are tired !!!

psssttt Bobette... I was doing everything I could to avoid work yesterday since it was a holiday.
